So two little subjects today instead of one big one!
First, there's this little ditty I picked up on my social media some place, and if you want to go to the site, that's great, but it's one of those sites that has a gazillion ads, pop-up screens and heaven knows what other sort of adware (which is what most of those ads on Facebook
have), so I condensed it here, cause it is interesting.
It's an article on what are the 11 things that make you less attractive to others:
1. Bad Grammar
2. Your Youthful Looks - look too young is not good especially if you're looking to have a a real relationship - friend, romantic, acquaintance.
3. The Shirt on Your Bad - wear red - women like men who wear red better.
4. Cake-up - apparently women like more makeup than men.
5. Your appetite - men like women you have one and aren't bone thin - well, duh!!!!
6. Your Table Manners - but don't scarf it down!
7. A Smidge of Stubble vs a Boast-Worth Beard - apparently the smidge is more attractive.
8. Flashing a Smile (or Not) - apparently men like women who smile but women don't like men who smile - what?....uh I love it when Walt smiles - I'm not sure I get this one.
9. Your Attitude - don't fake it.
10. Too Much Personality - I call this expansive, and expansive says to me that if someone is expansive with me, they are more likely to run over my boundaries - my limits - and that's a no-no with me.
11. Your Undiscovered Hobby - do something you love. When I first met Walt he was OK, then on our second date he started talking about what he loves and his passions, and the light behind his eyes almost blinded me, but I was spellbound after that! It's when we are doing, talking, thinking about what we love that we have this face that actually beams!!!
I always love these, cause they remind me of what's really true, more natural look, including the outside and the inside - that's what really exudes likeability and attractiveness - and that's what I love about sewing (yeah, you knew I was going to bring sewing into this). It allows you to show yourself to your best advantage while remaining natural (comfortable) and yet flattering without having to wear a constricting shape or size (caked make-up). Being yourself
really allows the light behind your eyes to put a positive spell to those around you!

And for a quickie on another subject - one of the things love doing is taking (sometimes some pretty crazy) styles from the runway and make them practical for the street (or for us normal folks).
Matching prints is one of those things that the experts and pros do really well, but there's a lot we can learn from them.

I know the helmut is over-the-top, but the match here is really great. Why? Because believe it or not both of these prints are really more toned-down than you would at first think. For one thing they both have the same space ratio and size ratio, so no one of them takes over from the other. The leopard print is 3 colors while the daisy print is 3 colors, so you're not dealing with a lot of colors 5 in total (black being in both prints). Also the
projection of colors (yellows being most projecting) are found in both prints so one doesn't go really more than the other.

Taking a cue from nature and using green as a background color, this makes these prints work together. The daisy print is the dominant color here while the paisley falls into the background even though it looks busier than the daisy. Because the daisy is larger, the busy, smaller designs of the paisley fall behind and become a great background for the daisies.
This one is really easy - scale. The dress is one scale while the leggings/hose/leg coverings are another scale. Using the larger scale with the flower petals as the dominant print, means there is less color and they fall into the background while the orange projecting color of the dress projects and becomes the dominant feature in the print. Although this one looks complicated, when you take it apart it's actually easy to see and to use.
These matching prints are very sophisticated and if you don't feel comfy doing this, don't worry, it doesn't make you a lesser of a person - these are only suggestions and things to think about. Maybe you might like to use a small amount of the other print so that it doesn't become too over-powering.
So what in the world does this mean? It means that sewing is a process. It’s like learning math – you must learn that 2 + 2 = 4 before you can learn that 4 x 4 = 16. It’s that simple. And yes a lot of […]

There is nothing that beats great style – NOTHING! This is most often classic, and yet you can see great style in some pretty dramatic looks, but it’s still classic. There are a couple of young examples of this great style that I like
to go to for […]

Sometimes I get a great opportunity to show off my ingenuity and I really love it. This requires a lot from a client because while I’m working on accomplishing all the puzzles involved in executing a specific design, my client can be totally
taken aback by all […]
