So I had a nightmare last night. I dreamed (or rather nightmared) that I I had my sewing studio, and my beautiful Bernina, and everything to sew (my stash was intact), but for some reason, I was told I could never sew again.
I was talking with Walt before we went to sleep last night and he was saying that, there would come a time when I wouldn't have to sew for clients anymore and I wouldn't have to teach sewing anymore. And I gently looked at him, and said, "Oh please don't take that away from me. I have to sew!"
That discussion was probably what lead to the nightmare. But I began to think what would I do if I couldn't sew anymore. Even a couple of years ago when I almost lobbed off my finger cutting onions one Thanksgiving, I came home a couple of days later and started sewing, without even thinking about the thick bandage on my finger, and I could sew, so everything was OK.
This is obviously a clear indication of an addiction or at the least an obsession. But I wonder if it isn't really more of a passion, because it is so productive.
I do so love sewing for my clients. The present me with so many puzzles and other wonderful dilemmas that are so fun to work through.

They keep me young and really up-to-date with smiles and great occasions all the time.
And I love my students. Even when I wrote wanting to know all your problems and what stops you from sewing, it was all I could do to keep from jumping up and down and saying......"I know how to solve that - it's not that hard!" And I can't wait to put stuff up about that cause I've been there before - I just have forgotten when I had those problems!

All of these gals made their own French quilted jackets and their pants, jackets, tops and tunics!
These are all such a high for me, that to contemplate giving it up or even think about not needing to sew anymore, I'm like: "I have to sew or I'll go nuts!"
I think Walt was a little taken back by my comment, but when I stopped to think about it, I was taken back by it too. I've always been so lucky to have the opportunity to do what I want for so long, that the idea of not having it, never occurred to me. I do get a little finicky about my fingers and don't like to damage them, although it doesn't seem to keep me from having my fingers in places that could be damaged (go figure that one)!
Hopefully that comes across in my missals each week, cause sewing really is a lot of fun!....I'm serious - even though all the puzzles, problems, wadders, mistakes and mishaps. There really is a way out of all those, and usually more than one way out!
This is an exceptionally sad day in fashion for many reasons. Karl Lagerfeld was a huge force in the fashion industry not only because of his fashion but because of his incredible energy level. He headed many aspects of the fashion business and of course his most famous […]

What’s the difference between classic and not classic?…like too plain?…or too much? So how do you define classic? Sometimes it helps to look at what isn’t classic. For one thing, the more that’s on the dress the quicker the dress gets dated. This is a perfect example […]
