PANTS
OK, I've gotten some requests for this resource in the library, so here it is. It took me a while to whittle this down to a resource that I could teach online, which is something I've wanted to do for a long time.
I ran into a serious roadblock about five years ago teaching this class in person, and had to revamp this class. The truth is that when you do a woven pant, you must have ease. The unfortunate thing is that because of the preponderance of stretch fabrics in the last thirty years, ease has a new meaning - baggy. Those of us who wore actual
woven pants know that this isn't true. But we have a full generation, that has never seen much less worn pants with ease.

As an alternative, I started teaching a pants class with ponte. This became much more successful and I wasn't going nuts trying to explain the different between ease and bagginess and that they were NOT the same thing.
After years of teaching the ponte pant, I've grown to love it. Not only that but it's been a huge success with my professional students as well as my retired students, my SAHM students and even the young newbies. That's the pant I teach here.
What the ponte pant does is fulfill that need for a tailored-looking pant but at the same time is something that you can move around it with what I call an "Aaaaaah" factor. To sit down, get in and out of a car, bend down to pick up something you dropped in a woven pant, you must have ease. But in a ponte pant you don't have to have that.
But there is one thing I insist on the ponte pant. It must have a good hang and drape to look like a professional pant. It isn't that hard, but there are steps to help you get there so that you know you have the best drape and hang possible.
For more info - see below.
Welcome to the world of a great fitting, flattering and comfortable pant. Yes, it's possible and no it doesn't take a Ph.D. from FIT!!!! Once you have this pattern perfected, making pants up is a cinch. It takes an afternoon for a newbie, but for a pro, a couple of hours -- once you have that pattern perfected.
This is the pant that I wear that gets the most compliments and even pros in the business remark at how well it fits because the hang and drape is so good. What they don't know that I do, is that this pant has the "Aaaaahhhh" factor. When I sit down I'm never worried about whether the pant will split or I'm going to have my eyeballs pop out cause the pants are so tight!

And that's what this resource does. Included in the resource are:
- Instructions on the kind of fabric to use and why
- Instruction on the pattern to use and why
- Instruction on fit, hang, the drape of the pant
- Instruction on hems and hem styles
- and when to use what style where
- Instruction on finishing techniques
- Instruction on variations of this ponte pant
- Instruction on styling for different figure types
- Instructions for care
This is full of inspiration, and instruction and is one of my most popular classes at Bernina when I teach in person - hopefully we will do that again!!!
In the meantime here's a fun class at the usually special discount for new resource introduction.
