Aaaaah - the long awaited floral pants.
They started out as a sketch, actually I did some watercolors of some roses and peonies.
And then I scanned them and applied them where I wanted.
I had a pattern of the pants, scaled out to about what they would look like in real life.
The colors here are really off, you can see closer to the colors on the printed version. But this is one of the reason we have to be so careful about colors between monitor, smartphone, camera and a host of other variables that make colors really difficult.
For me, I had a sea-foam green and a deep salmon, both ponte prints that are going to be tops for these pants so the pants had to at least tone with these colors, cause they are difficult to match.
From the sketch to the pattern.

The color is really off here, but this is how I arranged this for printing. At the very last I removed the outside lines. They were only there as a guide, and then off to have them printed.
This make look dull, but they are really lovely.

The printing is actually very well done. And here's a quick video of them coming off the printer.
Finally, I get to sew the up....but first.
I have to rearrange the pattern to fit the fabric, cut out one left side and one right side, and check for the waistband. After that, make them up (I've already fit these, so I didn't have to go through any fitting process). Sew them up, and do a fitting, for hem and to check any tiny last minute problems. There are none, so on with the waistband, hem them and in 3 hours they are done. Remember these pants have already been fit and I've already made them up 15
or so times already. All that in this video. This is an unlisted video specifically for subscribers here. I ask you not to share this with anyone else. Thanks.

In the video I make reference to a socialite from the 50s and 60s in New York and Palm Beach. By the time I get my pants on and my white shirt, I'm ready for Palm Beach and feel like channeling C. Z. Guest (left).
She was famous for her parties and her talent. She designed fabrics and clothes and did other beautiful things.
She would have had a fabric printed of drawings she would have done and then have pants made. The would have probably only run about $10,000 or $15,000 back in the 50s or 60s....probably closer to $50,000 to $75,000 today.
Don't we just love sewing!!!!!
Welcome to the world of a great fitting, flattering and comfortable pant. Yes, it's possible and no it doesn't take a Ph.D. from FIT!!!! Once you have this pattern perfected, making pants up is a cinch. It takes an afternoon for a newbie, but for a pro, a couple of hours -- once you have that pattern perfected.
This is the pant that I wear that gets the most compliments and even pros in the business remark at how well it fits because the hang and drape is so good. What they don't know that I do, is that this pant has the "Aaaaahhhh" factor. When I sit down I'm never worried about whether the pant will split or I'm going to have my eyeballs pop out cause the pants are so tight!

And that's what this resource does. Included in the resource are:
- Instructions on the kind of fabric to use and why
- Instruction on the pattern to use and why
- Instruction on fit, hang, the drape of the pant
- Instruction on hems and hem styles
- and when to use what style where
- Instruction on finishing techniques
- Instruction on variations of this ponte pant
- Instruction on styling for different figure types
- Instructions for care
This is full of inspiration, and instruction and is one of my most popular classes at Bernina when I teach in person - hopefully we will do that again!!!
In the meantime here's a fun class at the usually special discount for new resource introduction.
