Isn't it amazing what all you can get done when you have all the time in the world?!!! Well, lots of things going on these days.
The very first is that we've fine-tuned some things on the website and I think it's a lot easier to get around. If you find any problems or hindrances getting about I would sure like to hear them. This site is for you, and the easier it is for you, the better, so I really want to know.
And this part is amazing. I'm sure you all are aware of the beautiful fabrics from MarcyTilton.com. They are really curated beautifully and you know if you open a package from Katherine & Marcy it's going to be special. Well, they have accepted an invitation to do an interview will me on May 2 at 3pm CDT. I'm so excited to be able to bring these two sewing artists personally to you.
Some of the things we will discuss will be the quality of fabric that they sell, how they choose it, their prints and beautifully designed fabrics, how they put prints together for collections (in their cool combo page) and how they got started. This last part is great for those starting in curating and combining our fabric in an artistic and coherent manner.
These two gals lead exceptional tours to Paris twice a year (only once this year), and they have access to some pretty neat resources. I also wanted them to help those who are novices at shopping online, how to be more savvy and sharp about our online purchases. Remember they have been in this business a while so they know how these things operate and know the insider info to help us make our purchase the best possible.
Soooooooooo - of course I'm gathering questions that you would like to ask them. Remember there is no such thing as a stupid question, but do make it about sewing, fabrics, choosing fabrics, buying online and things that they would know about. I'm sure we would all like to solve world peace, however, I'm not sure this is the right place for that topic!!!!
One or two questions is enough, and we will work very hard to get to all of them. 😁😁

So here's the tech stuff on this: I have a very minimal Zoom account (during these days that's all I could get because of the enormous bandwidth that the live video requires on their site), so that means I can only host 100 people at a time - so it will be by first come first serve.
However, I will record this session and if you can't make it, I will post the video for free up on YouTube and send out the link after the interview.
Zoom was created for business meetings and works best on laptops. Laptops almost always have a camera (at the very top of the monitor). Check out your camera first to make sure it's on and working. You will not be able to have your audio functional. This creates a feedback noise that makes it hard to hear each other. There will be a chat window (which you should open) and you can ask questions in there. I've written a little Zoom Primer which you
can download here and go through it if you like to familiarize yourself with the Zoom process.
Here's the invitation to the Tilton/Zoom interview:

So if you have any questions, just reply to this email and hopefully will see you on the 2nd of May at 3pm CDT.

Finally, some things to help you get around. Here are some of the new additions and editions:
- The main menu (on the upper right like this:
) has some great added navigation helpers like Home, Resource Library, Blog, Weekly Email Signup, About Me and Contact Me which should get you around everywhere.
- New search box on the blogs, so you can search by title, category and tags, although title is the best for searching.
- New search box in the Resource Library - I especially like this one so you can search for dart, fit, draft, pattern - anything like that and you will get results.
These are three things that we have been working on to streamline things on the site, and I'm thrilled to have them accomplished. Take a look and move around to see what is there.
On the Blog
PS - I do a lot of posting on Facebook as SewingArtistry - like my page to see more goodies!
