I know a lot of you have seen and are wondering about some of the resources in the Resource Library on SewingArtistry.  When I'm out searching for information, and see these resources, I wonder the same thing.

  • Is this worth the money?
  • Is this going to answer my questions?
  • What all is in this resource?

I ask the same questions when I'm looking for vector and pixel drawing programs, and what I find most of the time, is that when I purchase a tutorial, it's usually much more in depth and it not only deals with the questions I'm looking to answer, but also additional information that can answer questions that I didn't know to ask.

This is way far more economical, cause I'm not going through countless pages or descriptions or even videos that contain part of the information, but miss the exact thing I'm trying to do.

So I wrote this new resource with that in mind.  It's free but it's so that you can see what a resource is like.  Most of my resources include additional information, videos and downloads that encompass the whole area around the title of the resource.

This resource is about Mitered Corners.  These can look so awesome and professional, that it's a shame not to use this technique, particularly when it's straight-forward and time consuming because it works for a variety of different types of corners that benefit from being mitered.

There's a technique that you can use that works on all mitered corners, including those that have uneven hems on both sides.  It's easy to fold-over and make that 45° seam and fold, but if one side has a 1" hem and the other has a 2½" hem, that 45° angle looks hinky and doesn't offer even support on both sides.

Additionally, it's nice to know this technique but where do you use it?  Why do you use it?  And that goes for a lot of techniques like this.  These handy dandy little techniques are a gem to learn, but what's the good of learning them if you don't know how to apply these lessons.  That's why I give you the why's and where's as well as the how's.

But most of all I wanted to write up a resource to show you what a typical resource in the library looks like.  This will be a free sampler in the SewingArtistry Resource Library so that

Consumers Re-Connecting With Producers

Consumers Re-ConnectingWith Producers

That sounds like a monumental task, but here’s the deal:  when we understand where the products come from that we purchase, there’s a much better relationship between buyer and seller.  The seller learns better what the buyer wants and needs while the buyer understands what’s possible and […]

Think AWell-Edited Wardrobe is ForThe Birds?

Think Again!  Apparently the well-known designer Thakoon doesn’t think so. This is the designer known for selling $800 flower dresses, and yet he’s changing his whole way of operation.  Here’s a designer who’s actually trying something new.  I’m an advocate of the old adage: This means that […]
