These walks and time away are the perfect way to remember that it's just as important to rest as to work. It's vital for us creative types. Always being on the go and doing and creating is good, but it's also good to completely get away and rejuvenate
our creative juices.
This week, I took off and returned to nature to heal all wounds, whether trivial or profound. Next week, Walt will have his knee replaced, and the doctor told him that he will be on a walker for two days. I think he heard two months and has gone into shock. When we all face major surgery that is chosen, that can be very scary and we will always wonder if it's the right decision or not.
I'm excited because I will be glad to see him move as if he were 10 years younger. But Walt, being the son of a farmer and a farmer himself, is going to be laid up this spring for a short time. It
will be very painful to watch warmer and warmer days go by, and he won't be able to get his hands in the dirt!
Hopefully with my creative juices restored, I can use my sewing as a way to survive this "painful" period!
I'm already thinking of some things that really need my attention in the sewing room!
In the meantime, if you know you need to take off, even if it's just to walk away from a project or your whole studio for a while, it's OK. It really does make
you a better sewists!
